Designed by Naganori Ito and placed into production in 1989 to meet production rules for race homologation, the R32 was slated for production of just over 5000 units.  Due to heavy demand and praise from the motoring press, Nissan started an unlimited production run that totaled 43,394 units.  Featuring a 2.6-liter twin cam twin turbo Inline-6, all-wheel drive, and HICAS four-wheel steering, the R32 dominated every race it entered.  With five consecutive Japanese Touring Car Championships and over two hundred race wins, the R32 smashed everything in its path earning it the nickname “Godzilla.”
