The S15 came with a 247 hp, 203 lb. ft. of torque from SR20DET Inline-four engine.  The S15 was available in two classes, the Spec-S and Spec-R.  In Japan the Spec-R featured a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Six speed manual version also featured a helical limited-slip differential.  The chassis and suspension was improved with anti-roll bars and strut bracing, and used 4-piston front brake calipers. HICAS four-wheel steering was also available as an option.  The Japanese Spec-S came with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic.  It featured standard suspension, a smaller brake booster, and an open differential.
