Nissan first used double cone syncros in the Z32 to impove shift speed. However, these syncros were soft and failed faster than anticipated. In 1998 Nissan improved the duarbility of the syncros and updated several of the internals. This prevented the griding commonly found in the 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th gears on the original trans. This transmission has all those updates and shifts like butter. So start findin and stop grindin.
